We have just purchased a stargazer lily. We were wondering if we have to wait until it is finished blooming until we plant it outside, and if we do, how long after blooming should we wait? Thank you very much.
Stargazer lilies can actually be planted outside at anytime, they're winter hardy in the Okanagan. All they require is a fairly rich, but well-drained soil in a sunny location. If you want to enjoy the blooms indoors wait until the bloom is finished and then plant it outside. The foliage will yellow and die down this fall, then it will come up next spring and you'll see blooms again next summer.
