WHY WE LIKE MYKE
Gardeners are always looking for products and techniques to make their plants perform better.
We have been using Myke in our soil mixes for the past several years; all of our potted roses, perennials, trees and shrubs contain
Myke in the soil and we feel that it has made a huge difference in the health of the plants we grow for you.
What is Myke? Mycorrhizal fungi (Latin mycor-fungus and rhiza-root) are naturally occurring beneficial
soil organisms. These fungi have a symbiotic, or mutually beneficial, relationship with plant roots in soil. The mycorrhizae create
filaments, or threads, on the roots. They are basically extensions of the root system, enlarging the surface-absorbing area of the
roots by 100 to 1000 times. If you increase the surface area of the roots, they’ll
be able to take up more nutrients and water.
In exchange the fungus receives essential sugars and compounds from the roots to fuel its own growth.
This symbiotic relationship is one of the longest and most successful in nature.
There are a host of benefits to garden plants when Myke is used. The improved nutrient absorption increases
fruit and flower production. It improves disease resistance and lessens transplant shock. The filaments created on roots increase
tolerance to drought, high soil temperatures and soil toxins.
When you plant your trees and shrubs with Myke under the conditions of the Myke Warranty Program your
plants will be warrantied for five years. Perennials carry a two year warranty when you use Myke for Perennials.
Be sure to pick up a Myke Planting Guide along with your Myke and plant with complete confidence.
Plants just grow better, have much bigger root systems and are healthier when you introduce Myke into the
soil. We’ve seen it thousands of times in the plants in our Trout Creek nursery, and we know you’ll see the
difference in your garden.
