Apple Snack Squares

These very tasty squares will be a sure-fire success with anyone who tries them - Art Knapps can testify as this recipe is a staff favourite!

Ingredients

2 cups sugar (or substitute Splenda)

2 eggs

3/4 cup vegetable oil or unsweetened apple sauce

2 1/2 cups flour

3 3/4 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp allspice

1/4 tsp nutmeg

3 cups diced, peeled apple [about 3 medium]

1 cup chopped walnuts

3/4 cup butterscotch chips

Method

Combine sugar, eggs & oil [or apple sauce]

Stir in dry ingredients, the batter will be thick

Sitr in nuts & apples.

Spread mixture into a greased 13" x 9" pan

Sprinkle with the butterscotch chips

Bake at 350F for 35-40 minutes until golden.

Cool before slicing.

Option: Drizzle with glaze when cool.
