Spring brings new life to the garden and new plants and products to our garden centre! Here’s a sneak preview of just a few of the many new arrivals that you’ll find at Art Knapp’s Penticton in 2010. HYDRANGEA ARBORESCENS ‘INVINCIBELLE SPIRIT’-the first pink-flowered ‘Annabelle’ hydrangea, with all of the great attributes of this popular shrub, we think this is going to be a real winner. It blooms on new wood right up until frost and grows 1 metre tall. Partial proceeds from the sale of each plant will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. SYRINGA ‘BLOOMERANG’-Imagine it, a compact growing lilac for smaller gardens, with wonderfully fragrant purple blossoms in spring....and then again in mid-summer and again until frost in autumn! ‘Bloomerang’ will change the way you look at lilacs. CHASMANTHIUM ‘RIVER MIST’-A variegated variety of Northern Sea Oats with lovely, arching green and white variegated foliage and unique sparkling white seed heads. It will look fabulous in containers or in mixed plantings in the garden. ‘River Mist’ enjoys a lightly-shaded location. ‘SWEET BABY GIRL’ TOMATO-a real breakthrough in cherry tomatoes, with loads of incredibly sweet fruit on a compact, manageable plant. This variety wins every time when it comes to sweetness, it’s resistant to cracking and continues to produce fruit even when the temperatures soar in the summer. SUPERTUNIA ‘PRETTY MUCH PICASSO’-we think this new introduction will stop you in your tracks, in our shadehouse and at home! Violet petals edged with chartreuse-what a combination. A vigorous grower with a strong trailing habit, it will be perfect for larger containers. LOBULARIA ‘SNOW PRINCESS’-Truly a breakthrough in annual alyssum, this new variety is grown by cuttings, not from seed. It grows vigorously and produces mounds of fragrant white blooms for months without fussing, looking fabulous in hanging baskets or containers, where it’s the perfect filler plant. FRUITS AND PASSIONS-From Italy to your kitchen, products that cooks and guests alike will savour. Cucina products contain natural active ingredients and pure aromas to pamper the skin and tantalize the olfactory senses of the cook. TUB TRUGS-How many different uses are there for the tub trug in the garden? We’re still counting! We use these flexible, durable and lightweight garden helpers in our garden centre every day.
